New Foundations Charter School

BSI Construction has been involved in four phases of construction at New Foundations Charter School:  Phase I, Renovation & Addition, Addition, and NFC High School.

Phase I of New Foundations Charter School consisted of the conversion of a former supermarket into a 40,000 sq ft fully functional school facility.  The scope of the 6-month project included the construction of 18 classrooms, 12 offices and a conference room, a state of the art computer laboratory, an art room, a full kitchen, and a multipurpose space which functions as an auditorium, cafeteria, and gymnasium.  As the General Contractor for the project, BSI Construction, LLC worked alongside the Owner and Design Team throughout each stage of construction, ensuring that the building was completed to the Owner’s satisfaction.

The second phase of construction at New Foundations, the Renovation & Addition project, was completed in four months and included the construction of a gymnasium, additional classrooms and support facilities, and a multipurpose room serving as a cafeteria and auditorium.  The existing multipurpose room was converted into offices, classrooms, a library, a music room, and a science laboratory.  BSI Construction was retained as the General Contractor for this 20,000 sq ft project.

The third phase of expansion at New Foundations was the design and construction of an Addition.  As Construction Manager for the 28,000 sq ft project, BSI Construction oversaw the construction of three stories of classroom, science laboratory, large group instruction, and administrative office spaces.  This phase required the design and implementation of a full storm water management system and was completed in nine months.

The most recent phase of construction at New Foundations was a Renovation project for the High School division of the school.  A former textile mill facility located across the street from the lower school site was converted to house conventional classroom spaces, a cafeteria, a library, a gymnasium, science laboratories, art and music rooms, and administrative offices.  The project totaled 90,000 sq ft and was completed in nine months.

The architect for each of the phases of construction at New Foundations Charter School was J2a Architects.
